Alex Pape: Bringing AI, Unified Portfolios to the Advisor Desktop
Chief Technology & Product Officer turns emerging tech into advisor-ready tools
As Chief Technology & Product Officer, Alex has focused on translating emerging technology into practical capabilities that directly improve how advisors work with clients. His mandate is simple but ambitious: use AI to help advisors have deeper, more personalized conversations as portfolios grow more complex.
Under his direction, AssetMark has developed AI-generated advisor “talk tracks” that analyze portfolio construction, risk and performance attribution, and relevant market context to produce clear, client-specific narratives. These tools are designed to help advisors explain sophisticated, tax-aware, multi-asset portfolios in plain language that resonates with individual investors, enhancing clarity, confidence, and trust at the point of advice.
Alex also led the launch of AssetMark’s mixed public–private markets Unified Managed Account, introduced in Q4 2025. The platform combines public and private assets in a single account structure while handling trading, administration, and operational complexity behind the scenes. Advisors can deliver a more holistic portfolio experience without adding back-office friction—a meaningful step toward making diversified, multi-asset portfolios more accessible and manageable.
Beyond specific features, Alex is steering the platform toward openness and ecosystem connectivity, integrating with leading CRM and reporting systems and using AI to boost developer productivity and automate repetitive work. The goal is to personalize at scale while improving the unit economics of building and running wealth technology.
Outside the office, Alex extends this impact through long-term mentorship and social impact. He has guided dozens of professionals into technology roles from other corners of the industry and maintains relationship-driven mentoring focused on career decisions and leadership growth. He also sponsors children through SOS Children’s Villages, supporting stability and education for vulnerable youth.
