Hunter Lee: Guiding the Future of Tax-Advantaged Real Estate
As one of Connect Money’s Next Gen Alternative Investment Award honorees, Hunter Lee, regional vice president of Mid-Atlantic sales at Capital Square, represents the new generation of alternatives professionals—those blending technical sophistication with genuine client partnership. Hunter’s path into the industry began in an analyst internship at Capital Square, where he built financial models, underwrote deals, and supported investment committee materials. That early exposure sparked a fascination with alternative assets. But as interest rates climbed and analyst roles tightened, mentors encouraged him to pursue a different entry point: wholesaling.
Although he initially knew little about capital raising, Hunter quickly recognized that wholesaling required both analytical depth and interpersonal skill. The pivot broadened his perspective—shifting his focus from transactions alone to understanding the advisors and investors behind them. Since joining Capital Square full-time in 2023, he has embraced the role of educator, strategist, and connector. His mission today is clear: empower advisors with meaningful tax-advantaged solutions that help clients defer or even eliminate taxes through 1031 exchanges, 721 UPREITs, QOZs, development strategies, and more.
Hunter’s vision has evolved from learning deals to helping people. Multiple promotions later, he now oversees one of Capital Square’s top-performing territories, driven by his commitment to relationships, clarity, and problem-solving. He takes pride in translating complex structures into actionable strategies—ensuring advisors can grow their practices and clients can preserve more of their hard-earned wealth.
Lee stands out as a rising leader shaping both the culture of Capital Square and the future of the alternatives industry.
