Farid Guindo: Emerging Energy-Market Strategist Driving Sustainable Credit Opportunities

Company:

Drill Capital

Farid Guindo is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Drill Capital Management, a New York–based investment firm focused on identifying structural dislocations across the global energy supply chain and investing in opportunities across energy infrastructure and related credit markets.

Under Guindo’s leadership, Drill Capital has developed a distinctive research-driven approach that blends fundamental analysis with energy-sector knowledge to capitalize on shifting market dynamics. The firm recently unveiled a dedicated research arm to publish in-depth energy-market insights and highlight strategic investment themes — reinforcing transparency and thought leadership.

Beyond deal execution, Guindo contributes to a broader conversation around energy transition and sustainable investing. In late 2024, he appeared on a podcast discussing natural gas’s evolving role in the energy mix — sharing views on energy demand, sector stressors, and portfolio opportunities for institutional and retail investors alike.

Born in the Central African Republic to parents serving with the United Nations Development Programme, Farid spent his childhood in conflict-affected and resource-rich countries such as Mali, Niger, Chad, Namibia, Haiti, Côte d’Ivoire, and Madagascar. These experiences offered him a firsthand view of how the UN and its partners mobilize resources to confront humanitarian crises and development challenges. They also instilled in him a deep commitment to community advancement and social impact. Farid has continued to collaborate with UN agencies and educational institutions, leading initiatives focused on literacy, community health awareness, and biodiversity conservation.

Guindo is receiving the Connect Money Next Generation Alternative Investment Award for merging deep domain expertise in the energy sector with rigorous research, structural discipline, and investor-centric transparency. His ability to uncover under-appreciated energy opportunities, communicate sector nuance, and build a resilient, forward-looking investment platform exemplifies the next wave of alternative-investment leadership — one that balances return, risk, and real-world impact.
