Asher Brings $5B in Deal Experience to Monroe’s Alternative Credit Platform

Company:

Monroe Capital

Managing director oversees opportunistic investments in real estate, specialty finance and corporate special situations

Kyle Asher’s responsibilities at Monroe Capital span the investment process, from sourcing and structuring transactions to managing portfolios and overseeing the team behind the firm’s alternative credit business.

As managing director, co-head and co-portfolio manager of Monroe’s alternative credit solutions investment vehicles, Asher co-leads investments in real estate, specialty finance and corporate special situations.

He joined Monroe in 2009 and serves on the fund’s investment committee. He also co-chairs the firm’s strategic planning committee, adding organizational planning to his investment and management responsibilities.

With more than 15 years of investment experience, Asher has led underwriting on more than $5 billion in debt and equity transactions across opportunistic private investments. That figure reflects transactions underwritten, rather than assets currently managed.

His role combines evaluating individual opportunities with overseeing the alternative credit business and its team. The responsibilities connect transaction-level analysis and financing structures with ongoing portfolio management.

Before joining Monroe, Asher was an analyst at Chicago-based Calder Capital Partners, a private equity firm investing both directly and through funds. Calder was partly owned by Goldman Sachs and Allied Capital, which was subsequently acquired by Ares Capital.

At Calder, Asher performed due diligence on direct investments and fund investments, sourced transactions and assisted with capital raising. The position gave him exposure to both company-level investment analysis and the evaluation of external investment funds.

He began his career as an equity analyst at MindShare Capital, an institutional money manager. There, he focused on valuations and trading patterns of small-cap growth companies.

Asher earned an MBA in finance and international business from Northwestern University, where he also received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and political science.

His career links public equity analysis, private equity diligence and alternative credit leadership. At Monroe, that experience supports his work across deal origination, investment structuring, portfolio oversight and strategic planning.
