Amarosa Pushes Discipline Over Hype in Tech Investing
VP tests AI, crypto and fintech companies on fundamentals rather than labels
Andrew Amarosa, a vice president at Innovating Capital, approaches emerging technology investments by testing business fundamentals behind the market narrative. His work spans artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, enterprise technology, fintech and digital assets, connecting technical analysis with financial diligence and potential paths to liquidity.
He sources opportunities, evaluates market demand, negotiates terms, supports limited partner relationships and works with portfolio companies. His framework emphasizes monetization, customer retention, margins, usage growth, technical differentiation and regulatory viability.
The objective is to distinguish businesses addressing durable needs from investments whose appeal depends primarily on an AI or cryptocurrency label.
Andrew has helped strengthen Innovating Capital’s investment process around thesis-driven sourcing and deeper diligence. The approach links identifying companies early with evaluating their economics, competitive positioning and exit prospects, then supporting development after an investment.
Innovating Capital reports 46 investments, 10 successful exits and more than $140 million in portfolio value created from Fund I. Those are firm-level results, rather than achievements attributable solely to Andrew, but provide context for the platform he helps operate.
His portfolio responsibilities were tested when a company sought to refinance a costly, restrictive credit facility before a firm maturity deadline.
A replacement lender had been identified, but the private credit firm paused new originations amid tariff-related volatility and broader market disruption. The company faced its approaching maturity without committed replacement financing, raising the possibility of default or unfavorable renegotiation.
Andrew organized outreach to more than 30 private credit firms, assessing sector appetite, underwriting speed and financing terms the company could support.
Working with his general partner, he coordinated diligence and helped management sequence the process. The refinancing closed before maturity, allowing the company to exit its previous facility.
The experience illustrates the portfolio support side of his responsibilities: securing a workable financing outcome when the original plan became unavailable.
Andrew also contributes to investor education through speaking engagements and market commentary. He participated in a SuperVenture North America panel for limited and general partners and has discussed venture funding, AI infrastructure, stablecoins, tokenization, cybersecurity and defense technology.
His 2026 media appearances and commentary included CNBC Europe, Schwab Network, FinAI News, TechJournal.UK and The Crypto Mavericks.
Outside formal portfolio obligations, he shares diligence frameworks and market perspectives with founders and junior investors. His personal responsibilities include caring for his father, whose health is declining.
Andrew’s broader investment outlook centers on convergence across private markets and digital financial infrastructure. He expects institutional investors to focus increasingly on realized outcomes, credible exits and operating performance as strategies compete for capital.
His interest in stablecoin payment systems, tokenized Treasuries and continuous settlement emphasizes the regulated infrastructure supporting adoption.
Across those themes, he favors businesses addressing payments, custody, compliance, security, data and workflow integration. The focus is on practical utility and sustainable economics.
For Andrew, technical innovation is a starting point for underwriting, rather than its conclusion. His work combines evaluating what a business enables with determining how it earns revenue, withstands competition and ultimately delivers liquidity to investors. That discipline also guides ongoing relationships with founders and portfolio companies.
