Clemente Co-Leads Secondaries Push at $95B Private Markets Firm
NY-based director combines transaction experience with investment oversight and client responsibilities.
Mitchell T. Clemente holds leadership roles in Pathway Capital Management’s secondaries business, combining investment analysis and transaction experience with ongoing portfolio oversight and client service.
A director based in New York City, Mitchell is co-head of Pathway’s secondaries team and co-chair of its Secondaries Investment Committee. He joined the firm in 2018.
His responsibilities span all aspects of the secondaries investment program, including investment analysis, due diligence, monitoring and performance evaluation. He also contributes to client reporting and servicing, connecting investment oversight with communication about portfolio activity and results.
The combination places Mitchell across both the evaluation of potential investments and the work required after capital is committed. His involvement extends from examining opportunities to monitoring their development and helping clients understand performance.
Before joining Pathway, he was a vice president in Greenhill & Co.’s capital advisory group. There, he focused on sourcing and executing secondary transactions.
That experience provided a transaction-oriented foundation for his subsequent role at Pathway, where his responsibilities encompass the broader investment program. His career therefore links identifying and executing transactions with evaluating investments, overseeing holdings and supporting client relationships.
Earlier, Mitchell worked as a financial analyst at Houlihan Lokey Inc., adding another advisory role to his background before specializing in secondary transactions.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and international business from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
His progression from financial analysis to capital advisory and investment leadership reflects a sustained focus on evaluating financial opportunities and executing transactions. At Pathway, that experience now informs his responsibilities as a team co-head and investment committee co-chair.
Pathway is an Irvine, California private-markets firm founded in 1991 and among the world’s largest fund-of-funds managers, with over $95 billion in assets under management across private equity, private credit and infrastructure via primaries, secondaries and co-investments for institutional investors.
