Palangio Hernandez Builds the Infrastructure Behind Alternatives Growth

Company:

SS&C Technologies

SS&C director combines automation, capacity planning to support over $20B in private market assets

Alexandria Palangio Hernandez is working to make alternative investments easier to manage after they enter client portfolios, strengthening the data and operating processes that connect private markets with wealth management.

As a director at SS&C Technologies, she built and leads the Accord Platform, a global, cross-functional team supporting more than $20 billion in alternative assets. Her responsibilities span technology, investment data operations and client service.

The platform captures, validates and delivers information about capital calls, distributions, valuations, investor documents and other private-market events into systems advisors use to assess clients’ financial circumstances.

For Hernandez, expanding access to alternatives requires dependable information throughout an investment’s life. Her work focuses on reducing the operational friction that can make private-market holdings difficult to incorporate into broader portfolios.

That challenge has intensified as the business grows. Its client base increased 36% year over year, while document volumes rose 63% in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. Signed new business positioned the operation for approximately 50% revenue growth in 2026.

During that expansion, her team reduced processing turnaround times by approximately 50%.

Hernandez pursued those improvements through workflow redesign, automation, capacity management and clearer accountability. She has led an initiative to integrate SS&C’s Work HQ platform and use robotic process automation to handle repetitive tasks.

Her approach examines processes from beginning to end, identifying manual steps, standardizing workflows and strengthening controls. Automating routine activity frees professionals to investigate complex investment events, resolve exceptions and improve data quality.

The operating changes also responded to pressure on staff. At peak periods, workloads exceeded sustainable capacity, and team members regularly worked extended hours.

Hernandez used workload data and operational metrics to identify resource gaps. She worked with leadership to prioritize critical activity, redistribute responsibilities, seek additional staffing and identify processes that could be automated or eliminated.

She also remained involved in client escalations and execution, balancing service commitments with efforts to address the underlying capacity problem.

Beyond SS&C, Hernandez supports financial education through Communities In Schools and Junior Achievement, with an emphasis on students in under-resourced public schools.

While at BlackRock, she received its Community Builder recognition for nonprofit involvement.

Raised by a single mother, Hernandez connects her interest in financial empowerment with personal experience. She recently launched She Builds Wealth, a social media platform intended to help women, particularly those underrepresented in investing, develop financial knowledge and confidence.

Her professional outlook pairs automation and artificial intelligence with human investment expertise. Large language models and robotic process automation can support information extraction, workflow coordination and exception identification, while experienced staff handle interpretation, judgment and oversight.

That division of responsibilities underpins her work on exception-based management: directing human attention toward activity requiring analysis rather than repetitive processing.

As private-market participation broadens, Hernandez’s focus remains on the infrastructure behind the investment experience. Her work seeks to give advisors more timely, accurate and understandable information while building an operating model capable of handling greater volume without relying on additional headcount alone or placing unsustainable demands on existing teams.
