Panagiotakopoulos Expands Access to Net Lease Investing
Co-founder combines institutional real estate experience with an ETF platform designed to give advisors more flexible portfolio options
Alexi Panagiotakopoulos has built his work in net lease real estate around expanding investor choice, pairing private institutional investing with a publicly traded strategy that financial advisors can use in client portfolios.
A co-founder of Colterpoint, Panagiotakopoulos previously helped establish Fundamental Income after years of private market net lease and credit investing. The firm developed a net lease index with Nasdaq and launched an exchange-traded fund providing exposure to publicly traded real estate companies focused on the sector.
Over the past seven years, he has traveled nationally to educate advisors and institutional investors about net lease allocations, differences between public and private real estate investment trusts, and the role of liquidity in portfolio construction.
Net lease properties generally place responsibility for some or all property expenses on tenants. Publicly traded exposure gives investors a different way to access the strategy, with market pricing and the ability to trade shares during exchange hours.
Panagiotakopoulos also helped build Fundamental Income’s private institutional net lease business after Brookfield provided $500 million in backing.
In 2025, he helped lead the sale of that business to Starwood Property Trust in a transaction valued at approximately $2.2 billion.
The sale created a decision about the future of the index and ETF businesses. Rather than include them in the transaction, Panagiotakopoulos and his partners retained the platform and subsequently rebranded it as Colterpoint.
He brought in additional strategic partners with ETF and net lease experience to expand distribution, educational resources and support for advisors.
Since November 2025, the number of advisors using the ETF has nearly doubled, according to the supplied account. Separately, the private real estate portfolio he helps oversee grew from approximately $2.2 billion to $2.7 billion since January 2026.
Panagiotakopoulos now serves as chief investment officer for the private REIT business and remains a lead partner in the separately operated ETF platform.
His broader vision is for alternative investment strategies to offer both private, less-liquid structures and publicly traded options, allowing investors to select exposure based on their objectives and circumstances.
Those formats involve different trade-offs. Exchange trading offers flexibility, but share prices fluctuate with markets, and a public vehicle’s holdings may differ from those of a private strategy.
His work seeks to make those distinctions easier for advisors to explain, positioning access and education as complementary parts of investment development.
Outside his professional responsibilities, Panagiotakopoulos is a PCH 50 member, serves as a booth chair for the Greater Phoenix Greek Festival and belongs to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He also coaches his sons’ Little League baseball teams.
Through Colterpoint, his focus remains on developing investment choices and helping advisors understand how different forms of real estate exposure can serve different portfolio needs.
