$240M Father-Son Team Joins LPL Financial from Ameriprise

$240M Father-Son Team Joins LPL Financial from Ameriprise

LPL Financial LLC announced that financial advisors Mitchell “Mitch” and Wesley “Wes” McCann have joined LPL Financial’s broker-dealer, RIA and custodial platforms. They reported serving approximately $240 million in advisory, brokerage and retirement plan assets. The team was previously with Ameriprise.

With the move, the father and son team launched Guardian Partners Wealth Management, a Bloomfield Hills, MI-based independent financial practice.

The Guardian Partners Wealth Management team interviewed numerous firms before selecting LPL as the best fit for their business, looking to improve their clients’ experiences and provide greater autonomy, according to the firm.

“Partnering with LPL means freedom, and that’s exactly what we were looking for,” Mitch McCann said. “With LPL, we will be able to offer the solutions and products that make the most sense for our clients, allowing us to provide a next-level experience.”

LPL serves over 22,000 financial advisors, including advisors at approximately 1,100 institutions and at approximately 570 registered investment advisor firms nationwide.

LPL has been on a recruitment spree this year, announcing 14 teams moving to its platform. The firm’s most recent addition was Strategic Wealth Partners, an $860 million Dallas-based duo from Lincoln Financial.

Last month, LPL recruited Sussex Wealth Partners, a $415 million Lewes, DE-based team previously with PNC Investments; Somnio Wealth, a $300 million Louisville, KY-based independent financial practice; and Windward Wealth Advisors, a $250 million Brick, NJ-based previously with Wells Fargo.
