KKR, Capital Group Debut Funds Blending Private, Public Credit Strategies

KKR and Capital Group have launched two interval funds focused on credit strategies following a strategic partnership announced in May 2024. The Capital Group KKR Core Plus+ and Capital Group KKR Multi-Sector+ funds aim to combine public and private market investments, targeting roughly 60% in public fixed income and 40% in private credit, including direct lending and asset-based finance.

The funds offer enhanced liquidity with quarterly repurchase offers of up to 10% of outstanding shares at net asset value, exceeding the standard 5% for interval funds. They feature competitive expense ratios—84 basis points for Core Plus+ and 89 basis points for Multi-Sector+—and a low $1,000 minimum investment for all share classes.

Mike Gitlin, Capital Group’s president and CEO, emphasized the collaborative potential of the partnership. “These solutions demonstrate the power of our combined scale and experience,” he said. KKR’s co-CEOs Joe Bae and Scott Nuttall noted the partnership’s goal to “unlock the benefits of private investments for the 95% of individual investors who have not historically been able to invest in private markets.”

The firms are developing further strategies, including public-private equity solutions and potential applications in retirement and international markets.

A robust educational platform for financial advisors accompanies the launch, featuring digital modules, multimedia content, and insights from portfolio managers and investment specialists.
