J.P Morgan’s Forest and Climate Fund Raises $1.5B

J.P. Morgan Asset Management revealed that Campbell Global’s Forest & Climate Solutions Fund II closed at $1.5 billion, exceeding its $1 billion goal. Combined with additional separate account mandates, the total capital raised reached $2.3 billion.

Launched in 2022, the fund marks the first major effort since J.P. Morgan acquired Campbell Global in 2021. This global strategy oversees 212,000 acres in the U.S. Pacific Northwest and South, emphasizing commercial forestland management in OECD countries.

The investment strategy blends conventional timber production with carbon sequestration, delivering nature-based carbon removal, storage, and biodiversity advantages. The fund drew a varied investor base, including U.S. investors, global banks, European pension funds, insurance companies, and asset managers. All properties adhere to Sustainable Forestry Initiative standards.

“This strategy is a unique investment option for our clients, offering diversification from traditional asset classes and income generation, and timberland management is a proven inflation hedge,” said Jed Laskowitz, Global Head of Private Markets and Customized Solutions, J.P. Morgan Asset Management.”

Portland, OR-based Campbell Global is an investment manager focused on timberland. The firm has $10.1 billion in assets under supervision and 1.4 million acres under management globally as of December 31, 2024.
