Campbell Global Expands Timberland Portfolio with 28.2K-Acre Emerald Ridge Acquisition

Campbell Global, a J.P. Morgan Asset Management–owned timberland and natural resources manager, has acquired Emerald Ridge, a 28,200-acre forest property located across Oregon’s North Coast and Willamette Valley. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The purchase follows the recent close of Forest & Climate Solutions Fund II at $1.5 billion—the largest timberland fundraise on record—bringing total capital raised to $2.3 billion including separate accounts. The fund now manages three U.S. timberland properties totaling approximately 212,000 acres, with additional dry powder for future acquisitions.

“Oregon is home to some of the highest-quality forestland in the world, and this transaction demonstrates our team’s expertise in securing premier assets for our investors,” said Angela Davis, Managing Director and CEO of Campbell Global.

Emerald Ridge will be managed under Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) standards and is central to Campbell Global’s climate-focused forestry strategy. The property includes 8.5 million trees across multiple age classes and species—including Douglas fir, Western hemlock, Sitka spruce, red cedar, and red alder—and features 365 miles of streams, 70 of which support fish habitats. Campbell Global expects the asset to support living-wage jobs in surrounding rural communities.

As of December 31, 2024, Campbell Global managed $10.1 billion in assets and 1.4 million acres of timberland globally on behalf of pension funds, foundations, family offices, and other institutional investors.
