55ip Bolsters RIA UMA Offering with JP Morgan, BlackRock Models
55ip, a fintech platform and a subsidiary of JP Morgan Asset Management, is expanding its unified managed account offering for RIA channels.
The platform’s UMA offerings include model portfolios with separately managed accounts from JP Morgan Asset Management and BlackRock.
The firm expects more asset managers to be added later this year.
The offering, 55ip Portal, aims to provide holistic portfolio management for the full target UMA model, and the firm’s ActiveTax Technology will continue to provide financial advice and suggestions for tax-related transitions and active account management.
“The rapid growth in the RIA channel highlights the issue of scale for advisors,” said Gautam Sachdev, Chief Executive Officer of 55ip. “Navigating the complexity of acquiring new clients, while contending with infrastructure challenges can be alleviated with the addition of a UMA to an advisor’s practice.”
As more fintech and wealth firms have turned to offer more UMAs, managed account assets have continued to drastically increase and remain one of the largest growing segments in the financial advisory sector.
In 2024, assets grew 19.8% year-over-year, reaching $13.7 trillion, with UMA platforms accumulating $257.7 billion in net flows, and SMAs adding $218.4 billion, according to a survey by Cerulli Associates.
In May, 55ip teamed up with investment manager T. Rowe Price to roll out tax-efficient custom model portfolios, which is aimed to enable advisors to optimize client outcomes on an after-tax basis.
