ArcLight Closes Purchase of 50% Stake in 5.4 GW Power Portfolio
ArcLight Capital Partners has completed its acquisition of a 50% stake in Invenergy AMPCI Thermal Power, or IATP, a 5.4-gigawatt portfolio of 11 power infrastructure assets across North America. Invenergy will keep its 50% interest and continue operating the portfolio.
ArcLight bought the stake from InfraBridge, a division of DigitalBridge Group, under an agreement announced in March. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The natural gas-fired portfolio provides contracted generation capacity across seven markets. It includes combined-cycle plants such as Grays Harbor Energy Center in Washington, Nelson Energy Center in Illinois, Lackawanna Energy Center in Pennsylvania and St. Clair Energy Centre in Ontario.
ArcLight said the mix of contracted revenue, near-term recontracting opportunities and potential expansion projects positions IATP to meet rising power demand from AI, data centers and the broader electrification of the economy, along with the growing need for dispatchable generation.
“IATP adds a significant portfolio of essential, dispatchable generation alongside a highly experienced partner in Invenergy,” said Angelo Acconcia, managing partner of ArcLight.
The deal adds to ArcLight’s recent push into power infrastructure. The firm recently committed $1 billion of equity to launch Anchor Point Transmission. Since 2001, ArcLight has owned, controlled or operated more than 70 GW of assets and 48,000 miles of electric and gas transmission and storage infrastructure, representing more than $90 billion of enterprise value. It also runs an 85-person power development team with a pipeline exceeding 15 GW.
Financial terms of the private transaction were not disclosed. Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC acted as financial advisor to ArcLight.
