William Blair Acquires Armentum Partners, Establishes Footprint in Silicon Valley
William Blair, an investment banking platform, has acquired Armentum Partners, a debt and alternative capital solutions advisory firm, in a deal to broaden the firm’s asset-based lending and monetization capabilities.
The transaction also expands William Blair’s capital markets and debt advisory solutions and marks the firm’s second investment banking acquisition of the year, following its acquisition of Inner Circle Sports in May.
Armentum Partners serves the healthcare and technology sectors, and advises companies, academic institutions, life sciences companies on royalty monetization and capital solutions.
Following the transaction, all Armentum Partners members will fully transition to William Blair and are expected to operate under the same branding, William Blair stated.
Armentum Partners also has members across Boston, Chicago, Menlo Park, New York, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, as well as in Europe.
As part of the transaction, William Blair will be establishing an office in Menlo Park, marking its entry into the Silicon Valley market.
“Joining William Blair unlocks opportunities for our clients, providing the increased scale, reach, and sector depth of a premier global platform along with relationship and execution continuity,” said Hutch Corbett, managing partner at Armentum.
Separately, William Blair Investment Management, a subsidiary of William Blair, recently launched its first two actively managed exchange-traded funds: the William Blair Emerging Markets Equity ETF and the William Blair International Equity ETF.
Chicago-based William Blair manages $71 billion in regulatory assets, as of September 30.
