- Brian Tierney, global head of portfolio operations and asset management at Blackstone, has been named president and CEO at electricity supply, distribution and generation company FirstEnergy Corp., effective June 1. Tierney will succeed interim CEO John Somerhalder II, who will continue to serve as the firm’s chairman.
- Curt Lueker has been hired as Managing Director at credit investment manager Marathon Asset Management to lead the sponsor coverage and direct lending business. Lueker was previously with Modern Bank as Chief Lending Officer & Head of Commercial Markets, overseeing the C&I, CRE, Energy and Small Business lending lines.
- James Mullen was named as an Operating Partner by Advent International, a global private equity investor, to build out its pharmaceutical and pharma services platform. Mullen currently serves as the Executive Chairman of genome editing company Editas Medicine.
- Alex Bell has been appointed as a partner of JP Morgan Private Capital’s sustainable growth equity (SGE) platform. Bell was previously Head of North America Climate Private Equity at Tikehau Capital. Bell started his career in the power & utilities investment banking division at Lehman Brothers.
- Jill Schwartz was named co-head of global financial sponsors at Bank of America Corp, replacing Kevin Sherlock who will join Bank of Montreal’s investment bank as head of leveraged finance and private capital. Schwartz will continue as executive vice chair of global corporate and investment banking.
- Ryan Selwood was appointed CIO, in a newly created position, by Bregal Investments, an international private equity platform. Selwood will be responsible for direct investments, wealth management and business development. Selwood was most recently a partner and chief development officer at Carlyle.
- H.I.G. Capital, a global alternative asset investment firm, has bought Synecore Ltd. and Meesons Futures Ltd. The two companies will join H.I.G.’s existing portfolio companies, CPS and Classic Lifts, to form the Andwis Group, a family of techincal services providers.
- Recognize Partners, a technology investment company, has made a significant strategic investment in 2X, a marketing-as-a-service (MaaS) provider for the B2B sector.
- Sverica Capital Management, a private equity investment firm, has made a strategic investment in Hirebotics, an automation company focused on collaborative robot services designed specifically for welding applications.
- JMI Equity, a growth equity firm focused on investing in software companies, has made a $90 million strategic investment in Coursedog, an academic operations business for higher education.
