Voya IM Launches Multi-Manager Alternative CITs for DC Plans
Voya Investment Management has launched a new series of multi-manager collective investment trusts aimed at expanding access to alternative investments within defined contribution retirement plans.
The new offerings, V-ALT Multi-Manager Alternative Fixed Income and V-ALT Multi-Manager Alternative Equity, will initially be available through advisor-managed accounts on Voya’s retirement platform. Global Trust Company serves as trustee for the trusts.
The CITs combine multiple alternative investment managers within a single structure, a design intended to reduce manager concentration risk and return dispersion while providing participants access to specialized strategies that are typically unavailable through traditional public-market portfolios.
Under the arrangement, Voya Investment Management Co. serves as the non-discretionary investment adviser, providing recommendations on manager selection, portfolio construction and allocations. Global Trust Company retains final authority over investment decisions, implementation and ongoing portfolio management.
The launch reflects growing interest across the retirement industry in incorporating private markets and alternative assets into defined contribution plans while maintaining appropriate oversight and risk controls.
“When it comes to introducing investments like private credit, private equity and other alternatives into DC plans, we believe that professionally managed investment products, such as advisor managed accounts or a CIT or registered fund structures represent an appropriate starting point,” said Amy Vaillancourt, president of Voya Retirement
