Vistria Group Takes Stake in Kohlberg’s Portfolio Business

Private investment firm The Vistria Group has taken a stake Iselin, NJ-based US Retirement & Benefits Partners, a part of middle market private equity firm Kohlberg & Company’s portfolio business.

The deal, which sees Vistria become the majority backer, comes five years after Kohlberg bought into the financial services company.

Specific financial terms of the deal were not made available.

USBRP specializes in employee benefits and employer-sponsored retirement plans in K-12 public schools, governmental, corporate and non-profit markets.

“USRBP has immense potential for growth and to positively impact the retirement and benefits management space, and this strategic partnership with The Vistria Group represents a significant milestone for the business,” said Evan Wildstein, partner at Kohlberg & Company.

With offices in Chicago and Dallas and over $10 billion in assets under management, Vistria invests in healthcare, education, financial services and real estate.
