Visa Announces Ryan McInerney as Next CEO
Visa Inc. has appointed Ryan McInerney as CEO, effective February 1, 2023.
McInerney has been President of the digital payments processor behemoth since 2013. He will take over as CEO from Alfred F. Kelly, Jr., 64, who has served as the company’s CEO since 2016 and Chairman since 2019.
In his role as President, McInerney has overseen the company’s market teams, business units, product team, merchant team, and client services.
McInerney joined Visa nine years ago from JPMorgan Chase, where he was CEO of consumer banking for three years.
“I cannot think of a finer leader to continue to position Visa at the center of money movement in increasingly innovative ways,” said Kelly.
Following McInerney’s appointment, Kelly will assume the role of Executive Chairman of the Board.
Visa shares are down approximately 10% from their January peak but have outperformed the S&P 500 Index this year.
