Vanguard Launches Dynamic Active-Passive Model Portfolio Series

Vanguard has rolled out a new Dynamic Active‑Passive Model Portfolio series, expanding its suite of model portfolios designed for financial advisors who want to blend active and passive strategies within a single framework.

The series targets advisors seeking to outperform index benchmarks by combining the cost efficiency and transparency of passive management with the potential excess returns of active management, implemented through a dynamic asset allocation process that is adjusted throughout the year. The goal is to give advisors a scalable way to deliver institutional-style portfolio construction without building and rebalancing multi-manager portfolios on their own.

“Our Dynamic Active-Passive Model Portfolios simplify some of the most complex parts of portfolio construction and management,” said Amma Boateng, managing director, Financial Advisor Services. “By leveraging model portfolios, advisors can continue delivering disciplined portfolio construction while spending more time with clients during moments that matter.”

The dynamic active‑passive approach is available in seven different risk sleeves, ranging from a most conservative option with 100% fixed income to a most aggressive option with 100% equities. Advisors can use the models as standalone portfolios or to complement existing client holdings.

“These models help advisors implement that approach without adding complexity—and we’ll pair them with client-ready materials and practice-management resources to help them deepen client relationships,” said Eve Cout, head of Advisor Solutions, Financial Advisor Services.

Vanguard said the active strategies included in the models are selected through its fund evaluation process, which emphasizes experienced management teams, repeatable investment processes and competitive long-term outcomes.
