UBS Lures Former Merril Lynch Advisor with $305M in Client Assets

UBS Wealth Management announced that Thomas Sheehan, an industry veteran of 25 years and former Merril Lynch advisor has joined UBS in Providence, RI, bringing about $305 million in client assets from high-net-worth families.

Sheehan is joined by a registered client service associate, Katie Ranney. The two will report to Ryann Kilgore, manager of the Providence office.

“Tom is well-versed in navigating family dynamics, which is key when providing clients with a comprehensive plan for the accumulation, retention and transfer of wealth,” William Cholawa, Greater New England market head at UBS Wealth Management USA.

Sheehan’s addition aligns with UBS’ strategy of recruiting experienced advisors who bring access to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients in growing markets. UBS CEO Ralph Hamers reiterated that strategy in January, during the firm’s most recent quarterly earnings call.

The UBS Americas unit has more than 6,200 financial advisors.
