Stonepeak to Buy Forgital Group from Carlyle
The $70 billion-managing real assets-focused Stonepeak has acquired Italy-based Forgital Group, a manufacturer of forged components largely for the aerospace sector, for an undisclosed amount from private equity firm Carlyle.
Founded in 1873, Forgital operates nine facilities across Italy, France, and the U.S., serving diverse end markets including aerospace, defense, space, power generation, and oil & gas.
“We have high conviction in long-term aerospace end market demand and believe Forgital is positioned to benefit from these tailwinds,” said Conor Sutherland, managing director at Stonepeak.
Carlyle acquired Forgital in 2019. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2025.
NY-headquartered Stonepeak announced last month that it would buy Air Transport Services Group, a freighter aircraft leasing company, for $3.1 billion in an all-cash take-private deal. In August, the firm hit its expanded $3.15 billion hard cap for its oversubscribed Opportunities Fund. The vehicle is expected to focus on communications, transport and logistics, and energy and energy transition assets in North America and Europe.
