S&P Global, Cambridge, Mercer Target the Data Gap in Private Credit
S&P Global, in collaboration with Cambridge Associates and Mercer, has launched a new suite of private markets performance datasets, marking the first release from a partnership announced in 2025.
The initial rollout provides standardized data across thousands of funds and underlying assets in private credit and real assets, with additional coverage—including private equity—expected later in 2026. The datasets are designed to help investors benchmark performance, assess risk, underwrite transactions and evaluate portfolio impacts in an increasingly complex private markets landscape.
Built on S&P Global’s iLEVEL platform, the offering introduces a proprietary taxonomy to standardize and aggregate historically fragmented data, enabling more consistent comparisons across strategies and managers.
Saugata Saha, president of S&P Global Market Intelligence, said the initiative is intended to bring greater rigor and comparability to private markets data, helping investors translate disparate information into actionable insights for performance evaluation and risk management.
The private credit and real assets datasets are now available globally.
