
Snowden Lane Recruits Former Merrill Exec with $230M Book
Snowden Lane Partners, a hybrid wealth advisory firm, announced the addition of former Merrill Lynch VP William H. “Trey” Jones III as a partner and managing director, forming The Jones Group with total client assets of $230 million.
With the hiring of Jones, Snowden Lane, based in New York, has now attracted seven advisors representing over $1 billion in client assets in 2023.
Prior to joining Snowden Lane, Jones spent a decade at Merrill Lynch, most recently as a VP and wealth management advisor.

Jones specializes in personalized financial planning, focusing on retirement, Social Security, tax efficiency and wealth management strategies. The Jones Group will also serve small businesses and offer advice on insurance and banking solutions.
Snowden, formed in 2011, is majority owned by private equity firm Estancia Capital Partners and manages more than $10 billion in client funds. This year, it obtained a $100 million line of credit to help fund its recruiting operations. The firm has 78 advisors in 13 offices and custodies with Pershing Advisors Solutions and Schwab Advisor Services.
The firm is led by Lyle LaMothe, chairman of the board of managers, Rob Mooney, managing partner & CEO, and Franks.
