Sandbrook Capital Closes $2.1B Debut Climate Infra Fund

Sandbrook Capital, a Stamford, CT-based private equity firm focused on energy infrastructure, has closed Sandbrook Climate Infrastructure Fund I at its hard cap of $1.5 billion, surpassing its $1 billion target. The firm now manages $2.1 billion in limited partner capital, including associated co-investment vehicles.

The fund invests in North American and European companies within the clean power generation, transmission, storage, energy efficiency and industrial decarbonization sectors.

The fund has completed three platform investments. In August, the firm, alongside PSP Investments and IMCO, acquired NeXtWind, a German renewable energy company focused on onshore wind farms. In June, Sandbrook launched Voltwise Power, a developer, owner and operator of utility-scale battery energy storage systems. In November 2022, it acquired Havfram AS, a Norwegian company focused on the installation of European offshore wind generation facilities.

“The transition to a low carbon future is one of the greatest opportunities of our generation, and we will continue to draw on the experience of our investment and operations teams to accelerate proven climate infrastructure platforms to sustainably and profitably electrify the world,” Sandbrook’s founder said.
