RRE Ventures Secures $250M for its Eigthth Early-Stage Fund
NY-based venture capital firm RRE Ventures has reached its target of $250 million for its eighth fund – Fund VIII – despite “one of the most challenging fundraising environments in recent history,” according to the firm.
The firm’s predecessor fund – Fund VII – closed at $265 million in June 2018.
RRE Ventures has raised nearly $1.9 billion to date with an investment strategy focused on leading $5-15 million financing of early-stage companies, including healthcare IT, space technology, blockchain, robotics, virtual reality and augmented reality.
The firm was founded in 1994 by Jim Robinson III, Jim Robison IV and Stuart Ellman. Today, the RRE Ventures is led by General Partners Jim Robinson IV, Stuart Ellman, Raju Rishi, Will Porteous, and Jason Black, while Robinson III remains a special limited partner.
“Despite the challenges in this down-market, we are excited to continue our focus on investing in early-stage companies and helping entrepreneurs bring their vision to life,” said Robinson IV.
The firm has made 590 investments over its 28-year history, leading to 122 successful exits, including Datadog, Buzzfeed, Bitly and Kik.
It recently participated in passwordless platform Hypr’s $25 million Advent International-led Series C1 round and healthcare engagement platform Ostro’s $45 million funding round in December 2022.
