Partners Group Acquires Data Center Platform EdgeCore Digital for $1.2B
Partners Group, a global private equity firm, has acquired owner, operator and builder of hyperscale data center platform EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure for $1.2 billion.
Partners Group said the Colorado-based EdgeCore was well-positioned to benefit from global digitization themes, such as the growth of cloud computing, machine learning, AI, and 5G technologies, which are driving increasing demand for data center processing and storage.
Over 130 investments have been made by Partners Group’s Private Infrastructure division in 18 different countries, with $21 billion in assets under management.
The latest deal comes amid a flurry of data center acquisitions by private equity groups. KKR purchased CyrusOne last year for $15 billion. DigitalBridge partnered with IFM to buy Switch for $11 billion in May. Blackstone Infrastructure Partners nabbed QTS Realty Trust for $10 billion.
Partners Group was advised by Latham and Watkins, KPMG, Clifford Chance, and Ropes & Gray. EdgeCore was advised by Greenberg Traurig, RBC Capital Markets, and Ernst and Young.
