Ohio School Retirement Invests $10M in Brookfield’s Infra Strategy
The School Employees Retirement System of Ohio has strengthened its infrastructure holdings with a $10 million co-investment in Brookfield Asset Management’s BGTF II Zizou Co-investment AIV strategy, bolstering its $1.3 billion portfolio of global infrastructure investments. The funding for this move comes directly from cash reserves.
This latest investment builds on the fund’s recent activity, following two significant infrastructure commitments made in February to ITE Management and Global Infrastructure Partners.
Officials recently evaluated the $1.2 billion private credit portfolio, which includes investments in direct lending, stressed/distressed debt, and asset-based lending. This portfolio has generated a strong 11.3% return for the year ending January 31.
Looking ahead to fiscal year 2025, the staff is committed to maintaining the current allocation while thoughtfully assessing the timing of capital drawdowns for new investments. Additionally, the team is exploring innovative investment opportunities within the asset-based lending sub-asset class.
