Montana Board of Investments Adds Over $370M to Alts Portfolio

The Montana Board of Investments has earmarked more than $370 million for a series of funds in its alternative assets program.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners collected €75 million ($83.3 million) for its fifth flagship fundraise, according to investor documentation for the pension fund’s upcoming board meeting. Last year, the firm completed a €5.6 billion ($6.1 billion) first close for Infrastructure V, which could eventually raise up to €12 billion ($13.4 billion).

Other notable investors include the New York State Common Retirement Fund, which committed €600 million ($666.3 million), distributed evenly between Fund V and a co-investment vehicle.

The pension fund also announced a $100 million investment in boutique investor Fisher Lynch Capital’s Big Horn Investment Fund. Fisher Lynch is a co-investment specialist, with over $7.7 billion in commitments.

Tenex Capital raised $50 million from Montana for its fourth flagship buyout fund, which closed at $1.9 billion earlier this month. The new vehicle is more than 58% larger than the firm’s $1.2 billion third fund, which closed in 2021 at its hard cap.

Montana also committed $40 million to Builders VC Fund III and $100 million to the Walton Street Real Estate Debt Core Fund.
