Modera Wealth Management Adds $155M FA in New York
Registered investment advisory firm Modera Wealth Management has acquired a New York-based financial advisor who oversees about $155 million in assets under management.
Advisor Aaron Lieberman, who joined Modera on August 1, previously served as the founder of Albany-based Marathon Wealth Management.
Lieberman offers investment management, financial planning, educational resources, estate and tax planning, insurance solutions, and retirement planning to clients across Albany and Long Island.
As part of the transition, Lieberman has joined Modera as a wealth manager and principal and is joined by senior client service specialist Diana Rabin, according to Modera’s website.
“Many of the people I work with are not looking to simply wind down,” Lieberman said. “They want to think carefully about what this next chapter should look like and how to align their finances with that vision.”
Prior to launching Marathon Wealth Management in 2015, Lieberman served for almost two decades at Wells Fargo, where he first served as senior vice president of Investments, then held a two-year stint as managing principal, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Lieberman also logged three years from 1999 to 2003 at Prudential Securities Incorporated, per his BrokerCheck records.
Modera’s latest addition marks the firm’s second transaction for the year, a company spokesperson confirmed to Connect Money.
In June, Modera added Plantation, FL-based Northstar Financial Planners, which manages $311.6 million in total client assets.
New Jersey-based Modera Wealth Management oversees roughly $17.5 billion in assets under management as of December 31. In 2021, the firm sold a minority stake to TRIA Capital Partners.
