Merchant Forms Strategic Partnership with Validus Capital
Merchant, the serial RIA investor and strategic partner to independent wealth firms, announced a new partnership with Validus Capital, a Los Angeles-based registered investment advisor with approximately $2.5 billion in client assets.
Founded in 2022 by industry veteran John Krambeer, Validus was designed as a modern multi-family office platform tailored for ultra-high-net-worth families, delivering white-glove, multi-generational service alongside sophisticated alternatives access and proprietary reporting systems.
Validus’ model stands out for its ability to combine the bespoke solutions of a single-family office with the scalability and flexibility of an RIA. The firm’s proprietary reporting platform provides UHNW families with transparency into private investments. Krambeer emphasized that Validus was built to bring institutional-grade solutions into the family office space, while also attracting top-tier advisors seeking a sophisticated platform with shared infrastructure.
Merchant’s executive chairman Marc Spilker noted that Validus delivers the sophistication of a single-family office while offering best-in-class private markets access through the RIA channel.
For Merchant, the deal builds on its rapidly expanding global ecosystem, which today includes 115 partner firms and RIA practices across six countries, collectively overseeing more than $250 billion in assets. The deal follows Merchant’s recent partnership with Meridian Wealth Management, a $4.2 billion fiduciary RIA with nine offices in six states.
