Liberty Mutual, Elda River Target $500M in Energy Credit Investments
Liberty Mutual Investments, the investment arm of Liberty Mutual Group, has formed a strategic partnership with Elda River Capital Management targeting up to $500 million in credit investments.
The partnership builds on a long-standing relationship between the firms and expands the senior credit solutions Elda River can offer high-quality, middle-market borrowers in energy and infrastructure, power and renewables, and energy efficiency.
“We’re seeing robust secular growth across energy supply, electrification, grid stability, re-industrialization, and digitalization, creating a clear industry need for tailored credit solutions over the long term,” said Charley Poole, head of energy and infrastructure at Liberty Mutual Investments.
Elda River invests across the capital structure through equity and credit strategies. The firm launched in 2024 as a spinout from Magnetar with about $1.5 billion in assets. It is led by co-managing partners Eric Scheyer and Adam Daley, who previously co-headed Magnetar’s energy and infrastructure business, where their team committed nearly $7 billion to more than 70 private energy and infrastructure investments.
The deal is Liberty Mutual Investments’ second infrastructure credit partnership in recent weeks. Earlier this month, it expanded its partnership with Orion Infrastructure Capital, launching a middle-market infrastructure debt strategy with the option to deploy up to $750 million.
Liberty Mutual Investments manages more than $130 billion in long-term capital globally.
