Inflection AI Raises $1.3B from Microsoft, Nvidia and Others
Inflection AI, the Palo Alto-based startup founded by Mustafa Suleyman, cofounder of Google-owned AI lab DeepMind, LinkedIn co-founder Reed Hoffman and Karén Simonyan, raised $1.3 billion in an massive round that brings its valuation to a reported $4 billion.
The new funding was led by Microsoft, Hoffman, Bill Gates, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and new investor NVIDIA.
Nvidia and CoreWeave are helping Inflection build a 22,000-unit Nvidia H100 Tensor GPU cluster, which the company claims is the largest in the world. The GPUs will be used to develop large-scale artificial intelligence models.
Inflection AI is also developing its own personal adjutant AI system called “PI,” which is designed to be a “kind and supportive companion” that provides text and voice conversations and “friendly advice.”
“Personal AI is going to be the most transformational tool of our lifetimes. This is truly an inflection point. We’re excited to collaborate with NVIDIA, Microsoft, and CoreWeave as well as Eric, Bill and many others to bring this vision to life,” said Suleyman.
Inflection AI raised $225 million in a first round of funding in early 2022 from Greylock, Microsoft, Reid Hoffman, Bill Gates, Eric Schmidt, Mike Schroepfer, Demis Hassabis, Will.i.am, Horizons Ventures, and Dragoneer.
