IG Wealth Taps Goldman Sachs to Manage C$23.2B Portfolio Suite
IG Wealth Management has selected Goldman Sachs Asset Management to oversee five diversified portfolios holding C$23.2 billion ($16.8 billion), pairing IG’s financial planning network with Goldman’s institutional asset-allocation and risk-management capabilities.
Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s Multi-Asset Solutions team will assume portfolio management responsibility for the newly renamed IG Strategic Wealth Portfolios, formerly part of the IG Core Portfolios suite.
The lineup includes the Income Focus, Income Balanced, Balanced, Balanced Growth, and Growth portfolios. The portfolios offer different combinations of equities, fixed income, and alternative investments intended to accommodate a range of risk tolerances and financial objectives.
Goldman will use its open-architecture platform and experience managing multi-manager strategies to evaluate the portfolios’ asset allocation, manager selection and risk exposures. The firm also plans to add selected Goldman Sachs strategies alongside existing holdings rather than replacing the portfolios entirely.
“This partnership strengthens the investment foundation of the IG Strategic Wealth Portfolios,” said Florence Narine, head of investment solutions at IG Wealth Management. She cited Goldman’s global resources, active management, and risk discipline.
Alexandra Wilson-Elizondo, global head and co-chief investment officer of Multi-Asset Solutions at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, said dynamic investment strategies and diversified portfolios can help clients pursue their objectives across market environments.
IG will continue providing financial planning and advice to clients, while Goldman takes responsibility for portfolio construction and management.
Founded in 1926, Winnipeg-based IG Wealth managed approximately C$178 billion in assets under advisement as of Aug. 31. Its parent, IGM Financial, reported about C$346 billion in total assets under management and advisement.
Goldman Sachs Asset Management oversees more than $2 trillion across public and private markets for institutions and individuals.
