HarbourVest Adds 25-Year Vanguard Veteran as Managing Director
Peter Mahoney, a 25-year veteran of investment advisory giant Vanguard, has joined private markets firm HarbourVest Partners as a managing director and head of fund accounting.
Mahoney will be responsible for leading the firm’s fund and investment accounting operations, in addition to leading the firm’s valuation and audit committees.
He was most recently global head of fund accounting at Vanguard, leading a team of more than 200 professionals. Prior to that was head of international fund services at the $8.1 trillion asset manager.
“We are excited to welcome Peter to HarbourVest. His extensive experience managing fund accounting operations across multiple jurisdictions and vehicle types will help the firm navigate increasingly complex challenges as we expand our offerings and enter new markets,” HarbourVest managing director Pete Wilson said.
HarbourVest was managing more than $106 billion at the start of the year across primary funds, secondary transactions, direct co-investments, real assets, infrastructure and private credit.
The firm hit a massive $4.2 billion final close for its latest co-investment fund last November, and more than $3 billion for its twelfth flagship US private equity fund two months earlier. It also recently launched its first office in Australia, citing increased demand for alternatives from LPs and rich individuals in the region.
