Former Salesforce, Autodesk Executive Joins NEA as Venture Partner

Venture capital powerhouse New Enterprise Associates has welcomed veteran finance organization leader Mark Hawkins as a venture partner.

Hawkins, who served as President and CFO Emeritus of Salesforce from 2014 to 2021, has more than 35 years’ experience in building and leading finance organizations at some of the world’s largest software and technology companies.

Prior to joining Salesforce, Hawkins was CFO and EVP at Autodesk. He previously served as CFO and SVP of Finance & IT at Logitech International, S.A. and was VP of Finance at Dell Technologies.

He currently serves as a director of Cloudflare, SecureWorks, Toast and Workday.

“Mark is among the most successful and sought-after finance executives in the technology industry, and we are thrilled to welcome him to our team,” said Scott Sandell, CEO, NEA.

NEA began the year by raising $6.2 billion across a pair of new funds, splitting its flagship fundraise across two different vehicles for the first time. The firm raised just over $3 billion for its 18th fund, which becomes an early-stage investment vehicle, and another $3.18 billion for its first dedicated growth equity fundraise.

Founded in 1977, Menlo Park, CA-based NEA had over $25 billion in assets as of the end of March and invests in technology and healthcare companies at all stages in a company’s lifecycle. The firm has invested in over 270 portfolio company IPOs and more than 450 mergers and acquisitions.
