EQT Buys US Solar Platform Madison Energy Investments from Stonepeak Partners
Global investment firm EQT announced that the EQT Infrastructure VI fund has agreed to acquire Vienna, VA-based Madison Energy Investments (MEI) from affiliates of Stonepeak Partners LP.
Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2023.
Founded in 2019, MEI is a US developer, owner and operator of solar and energy storage projects for commercial and industrial and community-based customers with a portfolio of more than 386 megawatts.
MEI managing partner Richard Walsh said: “We are looking forward to partnering with EQT’s US infrastructure platform. EQT’s team, experience and growth mindset make them the ideal partner to amplify our business in achieving new heights in clean energy.”
Going forward, EQT will support MEI’s management team and platform by offering growth capital to fast-track the deployment of distributed solar and storage assets.
Additionally, the deal gives MEI access to EQT’s in-house digital expertise to further digitize the organization.
