Emilia Wiener Promoted to CIO of TIAA General Account
Insurance and investment giant TIAA promoted Emilia (Emily) Wiener to CIO of the company’s $297bn asset General Account, effective January 15.
Wiener, who previously was head of fixed income at the New York-based firm for eight years, will be responsible for the overall portfolio investment policy and strategy, asset allocation, risk-adjusted targets across public and private fixed income, private equity, real estate and real asset alternatives.
Wiener will report to TIAA CFO Dave Dowrich and continue to work from the New York office.
Wen-Fu Wu will succeed Wiener as head of fixed income, and will also become deputy CIO, where he has served in asset allocation roles for the past ten years.
“With Emily and Wen-Fu assuming responsibility for the general account that backs TIAA’s flagship lifetime-income solution, I am confident that our clients and our colleagues are in excellent hands,” Dowrich said.
Prior to joining TIAA, Wiener led fixed-income portfolio management at AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company.
Previous CIO, Nick Liolis, will take over as CIO at the Guardian Life Insurance Co. on January 23 after more than seven years at TIAA.
