Edward Jones Expands SMA Offering with 53 New Accounts in UMA Program
Edward Jones has significantly expanded its Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs) lineup by adding 53 new strategies to its Edward Jones Advisory Solutions Unified Managed Account (UMA) Models program. The move marks a major milestone in the firm’s initiative to triple the number of available strategies by the end of 2025, offering clients greater flexibility and customization in their investment portfolios.
“Our financial advisors consistently highlight how these enhancements help empower clients to work toward achieving their financial goals with greater personalization and confidence,” said Russ Tipper, Principal and Head of Products at Edward Jones. “We are committed to making our platform more flexible, accessible, and tailored to the needs of our clients.”
A standout feature of the UMA platform is its integration of direct indexing within a single account—a capability Edward Jones has offered since 2020. As part of the latest expansion, the firm now offers eight Direct Indexing SMAs across various asset classes and investment styles. These can be paired with other SMAs to create highly customized portfolios that blend active and passive strategies.
“This innovation allows clients to choose from expertly curated research models or design fully customized portfolios that seamlessly combine active and passive SMAs within a single account,” Tipper added. “It delivers flexibility and personalization in a way that aligns with each client’s unique financial objectives.”
Clients participating in the UMA program can combine multiple SMAs with other eligible investments—including mutual funds, ETFs, and, for certain clients, alternative investments—within a single account. The platform provides access to diversified portfolios managed by professional asset managers, along with automatic rebalancing, coordinated tax management strategies, and ongoing monitoring.
Edward Jones does not charge additional fees to access SMAs within the UMA Models advisory program. However, clients are subject to asset-based advisory fees, a platform fee, and underlying fees charged by SMA managers. Investment minimums apply.
As of March 28, 2025, Edward Jones serves more than nine million clients across North America through a network of over 20,000 financial advisors, with total client assets reaching $2.2 trillion.
