Edelman Financial Engines Adds New CFO, Reshuffles Executive Team

Edelman Financial Engines has made several hires and announced one internal promotion in its latest shakeup.

Industry veteran Steve Gaven has joined the firm’s executive team as chief financial officer, where he will be tasked with leading Edelman Financial’s “workplace-to-wealth ecosystem,” and will assume his position on June 1, the wealth planning firm said.

Gaven, who brings over 25 years of experience to Edelman Financial, most recently served as chief growth officer at SageView Advisory, where he broadened the firm’s workplace financial solutions.

Gaven previously served as CFO of RWA Wealth Partners and has held roles at Boston Private, now part of First Citizens Bank, and Susquehanna International Group, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Edelman Financial hired Ro Mehrotra to serve as the firm’s SVP of its wealth client unit. Mehrotra will be responsible for overseeing EFE’s wealth planning division and will “strengthen client experience while supporting the continued development of its planning teams,” the firm said.

Mehrotra previously served as SVP of the wealth planning division and head of Client Experience at First Citizens Bank. He also held various roles at Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Silicon Valley Bank, per LinkedIn.

Edelman Financial also hired Jason Karmelek to serve as SVP and head of Planner Growth, where he will be focusing on expanding the firm’s “ability to attract, develop, and support planners and planning teams” nationwide, Edelman said.

Previously, Karmelek served as VP and head of recruitment strategy at Commonwealth Financial Network and held roles at Bank of America and the bank’s wealth unit, Merrill Lynch, per LinkedIn.

Lastly, Edelman promoted Amin Dabit to serve in the newly created position of SVP of wealth strategy. Dabit has been with Edelman since 2023 and previously served as the firm’s SVP of wealth planning.

Dabit will be responsible for launching various initiatives, including planner support and growth infrastructure, planning capabilities, and technology integration, the firm said.

Dabit also held roles at UBS Wealth Management, Merrill Lynch, and Alto, an alternative asset investment platform, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Edelman Financial Engines manages more than $308 billion in total assets and serves 1.3 million clients across the country, the firm said.
