Dynasty-backed Americana Partners Launches Sports, Entertainment Unit
Houston-based registered investment advisor Americana Partners has stepped into a new avenue, having established a division catering to wealthy clients in the sports and entertainment industries.
The new unit will serve athletes, entertainers, creators, agents, and coaches with support from former athletes, entertainment executives, and financial professionals.
The division will offer wealth management services and other offerings, including income diversification, brand protection, intellectual property strategies, tax planning, and investment management.
For clients in the entertainment sector, they will gain access to specialized financial advice on “cash flow management for unpredictable income, royalty and intellectual property optimization, industry-specific tax planning, and wealth building strategies,” Americana Partners stated.
The Dynasty Financial-backed firm has named associate VP Ben Davidson to lead the wealth management division.
“Our goal is to support clients as they navigate important financial decisions during periods of opportunity, build a long-term financial foundation beyond their careers in the spotlight, and surround them with a trusted network of advisors, relationships, and resources,” Davidson said.
Davidson also stated that the various financial situations of prominent clients in sports and entertainment are more complex than those of a standard affluent family.
Americana’s move comes as wealth and private equity firms are broadening their reach to serve tailored clients.
In June, Factory Holdings launched Los Angeles-based RIA Factory Capital, which offers wealth management, family-office services, financial planning, and public and private investment opportunities through networks in philanthropy, finance, sports, and media.
In February, KKR announced its plan to acquire Arctos Partners in a deal valued at $1.4 billion, with the potential for up to an additional $550 million in future equity tied to KKR’s share price and business-specific performance targets.
Recently, Americana Partners acquired NRT Consulting, a full-service consulting and accounting firm that provides services for oil and gas companies.
Americana Partners, which launched in 2019, oversees more than $12.1 billion in assets under management as of January 31.
