Defense Technology Startup Anduril Receives $1.48B in Funding, Led by Valor Equity Partners
Anduril Industries received a $1.48 billion Series E funding boost, raising the value of the Irvine, California-based defense and security technology company to $8.48 billion.
Founded by Oculus founder Palmer Luckey in 2017, Anduril has nearly doubled its valuation from the previous funding in June 2021, when it raised $450 million in a Series D round.
The new funding further confirms that Anduril has made solid inroads on its strategy to both develop and scale autonomous software and other capabilities for military use.
The latest raise ranks second to the $1.725bn investment that SpaceX Corp. closed in May and said to be the largest funding so far in 2022.
In January, the company won a $1bn contract from US Special Operations Command to lead its counter-drone systems integration work.
The funding was led by Valor Equity Partners, which previously invested in Anduril, with participation from Founders Fund, Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, 8VC, Lux Capital, Thrive Capital, DFJ Growth, Elad Gil, Lachy Groom, Human Capital, Marlinspike, WCM Investment Management, MVP Ventures, Lightspeed Venture and US Innovative Technology Fund.
