Cresset Scores $1.8B Ex-Goldman Sachs Advisory Team
Cresset Asset Management has added an advisory team from Goldman Sachs, where they managed more than $1.8 billion in total assets.
The team, led by Jamie Gilbert, Jean Wright, and Max Ripans, boosts Cresset’s presence in Atlanta as the firm plans to establish an office in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Following the team’s move to Cresset, they will continue offering tax and estate planning and wealth management services to ultra-high-net-worth families, entrepreneurs, and c-suite executives.
The addition comes as Cresset is preparing to close its merger with Denver-based Monticello Associates, an investment consulting firm. Following the merger, both firms will add about $200 billion in total assets.
The merger will bring Monticello Associates’ 58 team members to Cresset. The firm has offices in Cleveland, Boston, and Washington, D.C.
The partnership, originally announced in August, is set to close later this year.
Cresset Asset Management, which oversees more than $71 billion in assets under management, was launched in 2017. The firm’s employees hold about 60% of its stock, while 30% is owned by its clients.
Last December, private equity firm Constellation Wealth Capital made a $150 million minority investment in the firm, accounting for a stake of less than 10%.
