Creative Planning Adds $900M Marshall Financial Group

Creative Planning Adds $900M Marshall Financial Group

Creative Planning has acquired another Pennsylvania-based registered advisor firm to its roster, boosting the RIA’s total client assets to $900 million.

Doylestown, PA-based Marshall Financial Group, which was founded in 1981, offers wealth management, “integrated” financial planning, investment management, cash flow, risk management, estate, education planning, and charitable giving.

As part of the acquisition, Creative Planning adds 19 employees, many of whom have joined Creative Planning as partners, Creative Planning’s CEO and president Peter Mallouk, said to Connect Money.

In 2012, Marshall Financial started as a fee-only wealth management and financial planning firm, then transitioned to a 100% employee-owned firm in 2017, according to the firm’s website.

The deal marks Creative Planning’s 16th deal in two years, following its acquisition of North Bethesda, MD-based Burt Wealth Advisors, which oversees $1 billion in assets under management.

“We’re proud to join Creative Planning,” Paula Nangle, Marshall Financial’s president and senior wealth advisor, said. “Both companies share the same values, culture and personalized approach to client service. Additionally, we’re excited about the broad suite of services and capabilities Creative Planning can offer our current and future clients.”

Nearly three months after initially announcing its plans to acquire Sageview Advisory Group, Mega-RIA Creative Planning has completed its acquisition, which has added $250 billion in assets to the firm, Mallouk said.

Creative Planning received minority funding from private equity firms TPG and General Atlantic.

The firm says it has more than $390 billion in combined assets under management and advisement across all 50 states and 90 countries as of September 30.
