Cetera Launches First Alternative Investment Models

Cetera Financial Group has unveiled its first alternative investments allocation model, dubbed the Cetera Blended Alternatives model – moderate, with additional models expected to be rolled out.

The alternative model comprises six alternative funds with exposure to private equity, private credit, and private real estate investments. The allocations will be available through the Cetera Blended Alternatives Model-Moderate and can be used to build the models in Cetera’s My Advice Architect platform, the firm said.

The model blueprint was selected by Cetera’s Investment Management and due diligence teams, in collaboration with iCapital, which will keep track of the model and provide monthly and quarterly model-level reporting.

ICapital, an alternative investment platform, has worked jointly with Cetera’s Investment Management division to asset alternative investment allocation between “alternative investment strategies, identifying funds to fill allocation targets, and developing marketing content,” according to Cetera.

“Especially for high-net-worth clients, financial advisors should have access to alternative investments as another tool within their overall financial planning strategy because alternatives can help dampen the effects market volatility has on a client’s investment portfolio,” Matt Fries, head of investment products & partner solutions at Cetera, said.

The independent broker/dealer joins other financial services organizations that have rolled out alternative investment options for financial advisors to offer more options to their high-net-worth clients, including LPL Financial, Concurrent Investment Advisors, and Charles Schwab.

Cetera manages about $246 billion in client assets, with approximately 12,000 advisors using Cetera’s platform, the firm said.
