CAZ Investments Joins iCapital Marketplace with Sports Team Minority Stake Strategy

CAZ Investments has joined the iCapital Marketplace, offering its investment strategy centered on minority stakes in professional sports teams. The $9 billion firm, in partnership with Arctos Sports Partners, is one of the largest investors in professional sports as an asset class and aims to make this strategy accessible to financial advisors and their clients.

CAZ’s investment strategy spans all five major U.S. sports leagues—MLB, NHL, NBA, MLS, and NFL—capitalizing on the growing openness to private equity ownership. MLB led the way in 2019, allowing minority and passive stakes, followed by the NFL in 2024, completing access across these leagues.

The strategy emphasizes low market correlation and high return potential. Professional sports teams exhibit minimal correlation to public markets, offering diversification in volatile environments. In addition, lucrative media rights with networks and streaming platforms drive significant investment value.

“Professional sports investing is an extremely unique strategy with little to no correlation to public markets,” said Christopher Zook, chairman and CIO of Houston-based CAZ Investments. “Simplified access to such a unique asset class is a win for CAZ, our advisors, and the clients they serve.”
