Bridgewater Associates’ Chief Investment Strategist Rebecca Patterson to Leave Hedge Fund
Rebecca Patterson, chief investment strategist for Bridgewater Associates, will leave the world’s largest hedge fund at the end of this month after three years in the role.
With more than 20 years of investment management experience, Patterson joined the $150bn hedge fund founded by Ray Dalio after serving as Chief Investment Officer at Bessemer Trust, where she oversaw $85bn in client assets.
Patterson is also a member of Bridgewater’s Executive Committee, Investment Committee, and Commercial and Business Strategy Committee, as well as being a partner in the firm and helping lead its Diversity & Inclusion efforts.
In a LinkedIn post, Patterson said, “After 25-plus years of researching and investing, I’ve come to realize that my strengths and passion as an investor are best aligned with more discretionary, less systematic approaches.”
No immediate replacement for Patterson has been named.
Patterson’s departure comes just over two months after Dalio announced he is finally giving up control of Bridgewater. On September 30, he transferred all his voting rights to the board of directors and stepped down as one of three co-chief investment officers.
