Blockchain.com Launches No-Fees Visa Debit Card for Crypto, Powered by Marqeta
Blockchain.com has released its Visa debit card, allowing US users to spend their crypto balance or cash within their Blockchain.com wallet. The collaboration between the cryptocurrency platform and card-issuing firm Marqeta rewards users with 1% back in crypto.
“As one of the crypto industry’s oldest and most trusted platforms, we’re excited to roll out the natural next step to make crypto easy to use in the real world and accessible to as many people as possible,” said Blockchain.com CEO and Co-Founder Peter Smith.
The debit card was built on the open APIs by Marqeta that allowed Blockchain.com to create a payment card for its users.
According to a 2022 Marqeta US market study, 38% of surveyed Americans own a type of cryptocurrency, with users being more open to using their assets as a currency for exchange.
Earlier this month, Visa announced its partnership with crypto exchange FTX to offer debit cards in 40 countries, with a particular focus on Latin America.
Blockchain.com has raised $490 million in funding, including its most recent Series D round earlier this year that valued the company at $14 billion.
