Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic to Retire in 2026
Raphael Bostic, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, will retire at the end of his term on February 28, 2026, concluding nearly nine years in the role, the bank announced Wednesday.
Bostic, who became the Atlanta Fed’s 15th president in June 2017, said he was proud of helping move the Federal Reserve closer to its goal of “an economy that works for everyone.” “I look forward to discovering new ways to advance that bold vision in my next chapter,” he added.
The Atlanta Fed’s board of directors will form a non-banking search committee to conduct a national search for his successor. If a new president is not appointed by Bostic’s departure date, First Vice President and COO Cheryl Venable will serve as interim president.
Though Bostic is not a voting member of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) this year, he has supported the Fed’s recent rate cuts in September and October, citing the need to balance inflation control with economic stability. He has also stressed that monetary policy should remain restrictive until inflation sustainably approaches the Fed’s 2% target.
