Ares Management Raises $3.3B for Real Estate Secondaries
Ares Management Corporation, a global alternative investment manager, has raised roughly $3.3 billion of real estate secondaries capital, which comprises the Landmark Real Estate Fund IX, General Partner commitments and affiliated vehicles.
The fund aims to acquire seasoned assets at attractive discounts to market value and build highly diversified portfolios for its investors.
Led by Michelle Creed and Jamie Sunday, the real estate secondaries strategy has invested or committed approximately $8.3 billion across more than 200 transactions to date.
“This fundraise exemplifies our platform differentiation – scale, structuring capabilities, extensive relationships, significant experience and our ‘thought partner’ approach to investing,” said Creed.
The Ares real estate secondaries strategy is part of the Ares secondaries group, which managed $23.3 billion as of September, while Ares Management Corporation had approximately $395 billion in assets.
The fundraise coincides with an increasing interest in secondary markets, particularly as fund sponsors look for efficient solutions to manage near-term debt maturities and address liquidity concerns in their legacy fund vehicles. The fundraise positions the firm as a prominent participant in the real estate secondaries market.
